outreach
Science not communicated is science not done

We are passionate about bridging scientific discovery and community impact through collaborations with public and educational organizations and local K-12 schools. Our outreach aims to:
- Expand public understanding of vascular diseases, empowering communities to make informed health decisions and reduce health disparities.
- Highlight how engineering innovations transform human health, showcasing real-world applications that spark curiosity.
- Ignite the imagination of future generations, encouraging young minds to explore bioengineering and biomedical engineering.
We partner with organizations including the Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee, North Florida Worlds of Work (WOW), and the FSU Childcare & Early Learning Program.

Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)
We host summer REU students and train them in computational and experimental techniques in fluid mechanics and blood engineering. The program:
- Advances career development through networking across the broader research landscape.
- Builds graduate-level research skills, from computational tools to experimental methods.
- Develops academic writing and presentation skills.
We have mentored students from institutions such as Georgia Tech and Tallahassee State College, including Sinani Kperogi (Georgia Tech BME, July 2024) and JR Polisknowski (TSC ME, July 2024).
